C.H.A.T Club (Children for Humane Animal Treatment)

C.H.A.T. Club is an educational club for children ages 8-12 at the Capital Area Humane Society. Meetings provide members with the opportunity to get involved with the animals at the shelter through animal handling (puppies, kittens, dogs, cats and pocket pets), lessons about animals and responsible pet ownership, and fun activities.

  • We have three terms each year with registration for each term . Along with the registration form we need the following:
    1. A completed volunteer application
    2. Tetanus vaccination up to date with a signed waiver
  • Our C.H.A.T. Club meetings are divided into two groups: Junior C.H.A.T. Club members are 8-10 years old. Senior C.H.A.T. Club members are 11-12 years old.
  • C.H.A.T. Club fee is $25.00, payable before the first meeting. The cost for a C.H.A.T. Club tee shirt is $10.00. Club tee shirts are required and can be used throughout the year.
  • First time members - please note that you need to attend an orientation that will be held the first day of the new term at 4:00 p.m.
  • Parents do not need to attend the meetings, but are expected to pick their children up by 6:30 p.m.

*Please note C.H.A.T. Club will be held on Tuesdays starting the 2007 Fall Term.
