The animals need your assistance and there are a variety of ways you can help support the more than 6,000 animals we serve every year. The Capital Area Humane Society is a local and independent organization; 100% of ANY donation we receive goes directly in support of the animals at CAHS and the programs in place to support the animals.

Cash Gifts

A gift of cash is the simplest and most-direct form of support. If you are interested in making an immediate impact in the lives of animals at the shelter, you can quickly and easily make a contribution online or by mailing or dropping off a check.

Lasting Cash Gifts

Perhaps you would like to leave a memorial or honorarium cash gift where the name of a person or pet, living or passed will be recognized at CAHS. Family members or another specified party are notified of the gift, but not the amount. Several commemorative options are available.

Planned Gift

Become a member of our Rescuer Club and provide loving care and protection for future shelter animals by making a planned gift. Provisions for a future gift may be made through several planned giving instruments.

Donors who have documented this intent with the CAHS are recognized as a member of the Rescuer Club on the donor wall. When a gift is realized, recognition is then given to the donor (unless specified otherwise) via listing at the appropriate lifetime giving level for perpetuity.

Attend CAHS Events

The Capital Area Humane Society has events throughout the year where our community is invited to participate in helping raise money for the animals. These events are not limited to, but include:

Fur Ball – our springtime event; each April, join other animal loving attendees for our formal fundraising event with live and silent auctions. Attendees have the opportunity to bring their pet to be pampered and take part in our Pooch Parade, enjoy hors d’oeuvres and a sit-down dinner as well as fun with friends in our community. Run & Walk for the Animals – our fall event; each September, hundreds join the excitement in running or walking with pets in a fun run to benefit the animals. Participants collect pledges either as individuals or as a “Pack” with friends, family and/or co-workers, enjoy a Saturday outside for games, contests and fun for pets and the entire family. Holiday Open House – our winter event; each December, our community joins us at the shelter to visit with adoptable animals, peruse goodies our vendors bring, have their pets sit with Santa for a one-of-a-kind holiday photo, and enjoy other fun activities throughout a full and festive day.  CLICK HERE for more information regarding our Holiday Open House.
