Greyhounds can come in many colors; white, fawn, red, red-brindle, black-brindle, and black.

The weight range for a greyhound is usually 60-70 pounds.

While running, greyhounds are capable of reaching speeds up to 37 miles per hour! This makes them the fastest breed of dog on Earth.

The name greyhound derives from the Old Saxon word grei, meaning fine or beautiful.

Greyhounds need regular exercise which should include daily walks and the opportunity for free run.

Greyhounds are one of the oldest breeds of dogs. There are drawings of dogs resembling greyhounds in vases and tombs dated from ancient Egypt 8,000 years ago.

Average life expectancy for a greyhound is 10-12 years.

Greyhounds were among the first at American dog shows, and they have an entry of 18 listed in the first Westminster Kennel Club catalog in 1877.

Frederick the Great, Prince Albert, General Custer, and former president Rutherford B. Hayes all owned greyhounds.
