What Should Be Reported

You should report anytime you witness an animal whose welfare is endangered. Examples include:

  • Animals that have been or are being beaten, burned, cut or otherwise abused.
  • Animals whose basic needs for food, water and shelter are being neglected.
  • Animals that are left outside in freezing temperatures without adequate shelter, unfrozen water and food.
  • Animals that are tethered on chains less than three times their own body length or tethered in a choke collar.
  • Animals that are being tormented or used for fighting purposes.
  • Animals that appear to be severely underweight or starving.
  • Animals whose owners fail to seek treatment for serious or painful injuries or illnesses.
