COVID-19 UPDATE - 5/26/20

The Capital Area Humane Society will re-open on Tuesday, May 26 for adoptions by appointment (only), and donation drop-offs. Shelter hours for May 26-30 are 12-5 p.m. Starting June 1, our business hours will be 12-7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. If you see a pet on our website you are interested in adopting, please call the shelter at (517) 626-6060 starting at 9 a.m. Monday-Saturday to schedule an appointment for that day. All visitors must have an appointment to view the animals at the shelter. To make an appointment to visit, please call the shelter directly. As we are social distancing and taking extra safety precautions, anyone entering the building is required to wear a mask. Donations may be dropped-off during our business hours listed above. Please make sure to wear a mask and social distance when dropping off your items. If you would like a receipt, we are happy to provide one for you. If you are having difficulty feeding your pet, please call the shelter directly. Our Pet Food Bank will be open, by appointment, to help pet families impacted by job loss and lack of resources. Thank you for your cooperation with our new re-opening process.

In light of recent developments regarding COVID-19, we have have decided to postpone our annual Fur Ball Gala to ensure everyone's health and safety. We are currently trying to reschedule this life-saving event, and will share this information once we have a date confirmed. We are extremely grateful to all of our Fur Ball sponsors, those who have already purchased tickets, and those who have donated auction items. We will provide an update soon.
